DiscVision at ANGA Cable 2009: Advanced Hybrid PVR Systems and Innovative VoD Technologies
Introduction
DiscVision presents the latest results from its technological collaboration with leading industry partners at the ANGA Cable 2009 (May 26–28). The innovations presented include advanced hybrid IP/DVB-PVR systems as well as unique video-on-demand technologies.
Advanced Hybrid PVR Systems
The exhibited systems include:
Single-Tuner DVB-S2 Receiver: PVR-capable.
Twin-Tuner DVB-x Receiver: With built-in hard drive (HDD).
External storage solutions and enhanced home networking: Supports multi-room DVR and cross-platform content sharing.
Unique VoD Technology
In cooperation with ITV solutions GmbH, DiscVision presents a unique VoD system:
Quality Guarantee: Delivery of DVD and HDTV quality regardless of network load and speed.
End-to-End Service: Includes content ingest, license and catalog management, as well as AAA and DRM services, secured by cloud computing partners.
DRM System: Provided by Secure Media, with client software compatible with CE HTML browsers.
IP-Centric Services
In addition to the VoD solution, other IP-based services are presented:
Popular Platforms: Amazon, Google Picasa, YouTube.
Information and Communication Services: E-mail, RSS feeds.
Smart Home Integration: Home control networks.
Advanced Technologies and Partnerships
DiscVision collaborates with C2Micro, Celeno, and Topas to showcase technologies such as Mobile HD over WiFi from Celeno.
Applications: IPTV, triple-play services, multi-room DVR, multi-platform content sharing, and DVB-T over WiFi.
Technology: Celeno's OptimizAIR enhances standard 802.11 protocols (a/b/g/n) and delivers maximum range, throughput, and robustness.
