DiscVision presents Alexa Voice Service integration at CES in Las Vegas
DiscVision, an innovative company from Paderborn, presents a groundbreaking set-top box (STB) with Alexa Voice Service (AVS) at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. This integration allows users to effortlessly control their TV experience with voice commands. The highlight: a hands-free microphone array developed in collaboration with the French company 4mod Technology, communicating with the STB via Bluetooth.
Technology partnerships for innovative solutions
The presented solution is based on a joint project by DiscVision and Altech UEC, a globally active STB manufacturer from South Africa. Altech is known for its top-notch technology solutions used by leading network operators worldwide.
New Alexa skills for full control
In addition to the AVS integration, DiscVision has developed a skill based on the Amazon Video Skill Kits. With this skill, users can control functions such as timeshift, recording, and playback. Additionally, DiscVision offers a customized white-label solution with enhanced features, IoT cloud services, and an SDK for integration into other STB systems.
White-label solutions and cloud services
DiscVision presents a comprehensive white-label system that enables AVS integration and STB control via Alexa. The provision is supported by powerful SDKs that allow for easy integration into existing systems—regardless of the operating system.
Innovative design for Alexa-compatible devices
The showcased system combines voice and visual feedback through skill cards. The STB can be controlled both with a push-to-talk remote and via the microphone array, which is also suitable for high-end speakers.
