DiscVision presents universal home control interface at CeBIT 2014
Introduction
DiscVision, a company from Paderborn, Germany, and several partners of the UHCI project (Universal Home Control Interface) present the first results of a long-term initiative at CeBIT 2014. The aim of the project is to develop universal technologies for home control user interfaces. The vision of the research project is to create interactive user interfaces that provide a consistent look and feel for different types of devices. This enables users to control an application or service on one platform and seamlessly transfer that control to other platforms or services.
Project Partners and Collaborations
The UHCI project unites several partners, including:
ART+COM
Connected Living
Fraunhofer IDMT
Loewe
UMAN
Technical University of Berlin
The CeBIT demonstration, which begins on March 10, 2014 in Hanover, showcases the initial results of this collaboration. DiscVision is one of the exhibiting partners and demonstrates the use of UHCI technologies to control a smart home via a TV device.
Technologies and Application Examples
Smart Home Control with Digital Satellite Receiver
DiscVision shows the integration of a popular smart home control system (HomeMatic) with a digital satellite receiver. Users can operate the sensors and actuators of their smart home via the receiver.
Customized Sound Adjustment
Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology (IDMT), DiscVision presents a technology for adjusting the audio signal to the hearing abilities of the end user. Efficient algorithms implemented on the STB platform enable online adjustments of volume and sound.
Areas of Application:
Support for seniors or hearing-impaired individuals
Improvement of sound quality for audiovisual systems
Event Information
DiscVision and the entire UHCI project team warmly invite visitors to the booth of BMWI (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) in Hall 9, Booth E24.
